ABOUT
Hello. I'm Isabelle.
Përshëndetje. Unë jam Isabelle.
I'm a Peace Corps English Education (TEFL) volunteer in Northern Albania. This blog shares my experience - the highs, the lows, the lessons - throughout the process.
Unë jam një vullnetare e Korpusit të Paqes dhe jap mësime të gjuhes angleze. Ky blog ndan përvojën time - gjërat e mire, gjërat e vështira, mësimet - gjatë gjithë jetës këtu.

Albania Fun Facts:
-
Albania is home to 4 UNESCO World Heritage sites.
-
The eagle featured on the Albanian flag represents Albanians as a people; through a slew of language translations, "Albania" more or less means "descendants of eagles."
-
Albania's major religions are Islam and Christianity.
-
Albania has a rich history. The country is covered in Illyrian, Greek, Roman, Byzantine/East Romanian, and Ottoman remains. Military bunkers, remnants of a communist past (1940s-1990s), also dot the landscape.

27 Months of Peace Corps Explained:
Jan 18, 2025. I fly to Philadelphia, my cohort's designated staging site.
Jan 20, 2025. We fly to Albania!
Jan - April 2025. The first 3 months are Pre-Service Training (PST). I live with my first host family and take a crash course in all things Albanian and TEFL.
April 2025 - 2027. I spend 24 months at my assigned site with another host family or in independent housing. My primary role is teaching English, though I can have side projects. Close of Service (COS) occurs in April 2027.
